Signing at Travelling Man goes swimmingly!

The Boys at Travelling man Manchester...and very nice they were too! Posted by Picasa

We had a good turnout, sold quite a few comics and had a very nice afternoon hanging about and chatting to the boys. Thanks to Dan, Tom, Adam, and Haroum for making us welcome, and for the drawings! ;)

we gave away twenty of the signed limited edition 'prints' which Shane sent along in his absence. This means we have a few left, so we'll ask Shane what he wants us to do...watch this space!

The Travelling man got us to sign a few copies to send out to their other branches in Newcastle, Nottingham, Leeds and...somewhere else i forgot. No need to miss out! if you have a comic shop in the country and you'd like us to do a signing get in touch and we'll see if we can do it.

Albion Six almost half done...again!

We sat and scanned in the printout we had last night and for the first half it was fine worked a charm, the recognition software made it all into text really easily and we were happy bunnies. The other half was printed out badly and then badly written on with notes for dialogue, so what the software did was guess at what it might have been. The result looks like an alien race is trying to contact us, or the partially obscured heiroglyphyics on a tomb somewhere. You can make out the odd word but the rest is a bowl of alphabet soup. While i was wrangling with margins and making sure the dialogue was all spread out neatly, John sat and started typing the rest which we hadnt done yet when the laptop went walkies. this means we are approximately halfway through again now.

We have my lovely sister and brother in law to thank for the speed with which we have got back to work, they have happily built us a giant PC (not stealable now!) which runs faster than anything i've seen and we are very happy with. thank god for computer geeks! ;)

The only other hiccough in our life was putting a hole in the fuel tank of our car while driving across a field on saturday. The plus side of this is that we have to stay home and work work work, the bad side is that we are rapidly running out of food! (dont ask about the field incident, its a whole other story).

The very lovely thing about this week has been that we got to attend two weddings and a 50th birthday (congrats to Lindsay, Rachel, Paola Danny & Desi!) so that balanced the disasters nicely for us. Hopefully this week will be more level, just ordinary would be nice.

Albion Six Stolen!!!

Last Friday our laptop computer was stolen from our home, it contained ALL of our work and ALL of our contacts.
Issue six was, literally, hours away from completion.
We are absolutely gutted.

On the bright side, we luckily had a printout of the issue so far which we have been able to scan and use character recognition on. It still means that about 1 in every 20 words are incorrect and seeing as the script for 6 is over 60 pages long we've still got a hell of a lot of work to do before we get back to where we were.

Burglars: I will catch you and twat you!

A Little Bit Of Politics.

Last weeks bombings in London were horrific and awful. Our best wishes and deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by the events.

However, I appeal to you not to allow the government to use these tragic events as an excuse to further infringe on our right to privacy.
Compulsory ID cards could not have prevented the bombings, anyone who says differently is simply not telling the truth.
Don't let compulsory fingerprinting and fees of £300 per person become the law.

Visit www.no2id.net and register your refusal to allow the ID card scheme to go ahead.

Albion # 6 On It's Way.

It's been rather too long coming but we are now ready to start on the script for issue 6.

We had to ensure that all the corrections were...erm, correct for issue 5 and then painstakingly go through all of the past scripts to make sure that we weren't going to miss any loose ends (we've got more than 30 named characters in Albion, all of them with their own already established histories, character traits, allies, enemies, etc).
We wrote a very detailed 3 page breakdown which we then posted to Alan.
From our breakdown Alan wrote an 11 page version which he then tried to post to us. Unfortunately, the lady at the post office told Alan that there was a strike on so he ended up faxing the manuscript to a friend of ours at his work place.
Today we went to see our mate Dave and got the manuscript so now we can start work.

Phew!

Albion #1 selling out!!! panic buy now!! ;-)

yes it's true. we have had several reports of Albion #1 selling out in major retailers across the country. One intrepid man was forced to drive 40 miles to buy a copy, another was forced to swim the channel. (okay so i made that last bit up...exciting wasn't it!)

in any case, to ensure you get your greasy mitts on a copy run like the proverbial wind to your local comic outlet and grab as many copies as you can in a crazed frenzy. This panic buying will clear the shelves of all remaining copies perpetuating the tide of consumer delight. do it now without delay! quick! i hear the last ones being sold right now!!!

London Film And Comic Con Photos

We had a fantastic time at the con and bumped into loads and loads of interesting and lovely people including Boo Cook, Pat Mills, Brendan McCarthy and far too many others to mention.

Thanks to everyone who made the whole thing possible (especially Stuart AKA Loki). Looking forward to next year's already.
